Geometric Patterns

Geometric Patterns!

For the past few days our class have been working on geometric patterns, we used our ruler to find the middle of our circle and then we chose which kind on pattern. I chose 36 pointed and you needed to make a mark every 10 degrees, little did I know how many lines there were and I didn't finish it. Then we had to rule to every point, this is how the patterns were made, other people colored them but I didn't.

Enjoy!

My Garden

My Garden
For the past week we have been planning and designing our own gardens (Sadly we can't build them) I have planted Chillies, Marigolds Brussel Sprouts and Blue Cornflowers. First we had to choose which plant we wanted to plant then we designed a draft in our bubble catcher (Visual Diary) then we were given the "All Clear" by Mrs Cameron to proceed to our good copy. In that we had to include what time of year they were planted and many details about the plant.

ENJOY!

Tim's Starry Night

My Starry Night!

Our Class has been learning and studying visual art, we have been looking at Vincent Van Vogh's mixed media starry night and using it as a example and inspiration for our version on starry night, we painted our sky and outlined our landscape with chalk. After we painted using a double loading technique our landscape, we used black pastel to outline our landscape to make it stand out. This was quite a messy process but after the smudge and clean of pastel we got onto our houses most people used paper but Llewellyn and I used our pencil and pilot pen to make them stand out.

Oh, And find the five people!!

Quick Write Photo

Last Friday we started a quick write on a photo, this was a photo of a boy jumping of a jetty in Auckland.
This piece of writing had to include complex sentences and a variety of sentences

The Jump

As walk down the jetty I can hear the old wood creaking below my feet. I don’t look down. It’s choppy, I don’t care, it’s a storm it doesn’t matter I say to myself. To me this normal jumping off the jetty by the harbour, I do it with my friends, it helps me relax. I spend most of my time here but this time it doesn't feel like it use to. I still do it but everytime I jump the colder the water gets. One more time, but I can’t get out onto the jetty, I feel the water curl around me and tighten my chest. I start to panic.

This is a normal day at the jetty, for me this place is like my second home. Strangely this time it is just not the same because the gulls weren't on the wooden poles holding the wharf on the water and this small mackerels that used to call this place home are out of sight. A storm. It’s coming I can just make myself do one more just for luck.

Into the blue I go. It’s cold but it’s a nice cold, I feel the water curl around me like a frozen silk blanket. Then out of no where it wraps around me like a snake preparing to death roll. Pulls me under into the depths below me. I frantically scream. Try to kick my way back to the wharf. I go under.

Next thing I know, I’m in Hospital. I see family members crying. Patients trying to calm their friends and family. The doctors rush me around, I feel like I am on the brink of death,  would I ever make a recovery? How would my family cope?  Mum would be tearing her hair out. And dad would I ever see him again?

The End

Foul Shot

Penalty Corner

For the past few weeks all of room 2 have been working on our foul shot writing. This had to include two stanzas, one about the ball and the other one about the person shooting or running. It also wasn't allowed two have extra or unnecessary words like the or then, It needed to include strong verbs and each idea on a different line.
I decided to do mine on.

Foul Shot (Penalty Corner), ~Timothy Cornwall
0 0 on the scoreboard
With one play to go
Penalty corner
All of us the top of the D
10 seconds hanging on the clock
I loosen my sweaty hands on my stick,
Stare at the turf.
Flick it

It curves
Bends
Takes Flight
Spins
Plays it Coy
Sails
Heads in…
And Then
                     And then
                                                  And then.
Hits the post
Running in to get it
Ready with my stick
Swiped
Strait at the goal
And it’s in the net.

To the Unknown Solider Inquiry Writing

As part of our Inquiry, we had to write about ANZAC day and a letter to the Unknown soldier, this had to include paragraphs, our knowledge of ANZAC day and complex sentences. This was a very long write but it came out awesome!!

ENJOY!!
To the Unknown Soldier
I don’t even know your name, where you came from or what your life was like before the war.  I’m writing to you, as a sign of appreciation not just from me but the whole of my country.

Image result for Soldier and poppyAlthough it was roughly one hundred years ago, we still have not forgotten you. We are still commemorating your sacrifice and bravery. I will never forget or dishonour you for the peace you have brought to this world.

Where were you when the outbreak of the great WWI was announced?.  Did you think it was going to be an adventure? Tell me how old you would be now if you survived the war? I can’t believe
Today I am warm, safe, free and with a peaceful and fair government.

I want you to know that we will not forget you. I cannot imagine what horrible things you would have seen. What did you think? Were you angry? Did you volunteer or were you forced? Or were you confused or angry about war.  How did you feel when you saw people dying right next to you? You probably would never speak of such things.

Were you proud to put on your country's uniform? I have heard about soldiers cutting them with their bayonet because the were so heavy and hot. Were you one these boys? How was the food and living conditions? Apparently there were rats the size of cats and bombs made out of jam tins. Summing it up in my words it was unbelievable.

I’m only young. 10 in fact. But I still know about the price you and your mates payed. We will never be able to repay the cost. I know you are a brave Kiwi boy and you died for your country and you should be proud.

My Insect Sketch!

MY INSECT SKETCH

In the last few weeks we have been working on our sketches first we had to practice with graphite art pencils, drawing shapes and going from light to dark. This was quite challenging because we weren't allowed to use a rubber. I was inspired by a Dragonfly that Mrs Cameron printed of and used it as an example.

Here is the sketch!
